Fun Under the Sun

"I cant wait until this afternoon, what are you doin' this summer?" The sound of laughter and summer joy filled the hall as the sixth [soon to be seventh] graders cleaned their lockers. It was the last day of school and it was a half day, life just couldn't get any better. I'd gotten all A's a B+and was waiting on an acceptance letter from a U of M camp that would give me 600 $ when I was done. My summer was just beginning.

Mid June, I was out of school and I was tired of cleaning! I had just been rejected at camp at U of M. I was ready for some summer fun! Later that day I realized that I was having my Richards family reunion the next week! I could not wait until then. Family reunions meant sleepovers with cousins, cookouts and pictures.
My cousins Nia, Khya,Khari, Mya, and Malichai came from Georgia. Their parents my aunt Eshe, aunt Pat and uncle Malcus. My aunt Kym and uncle Tony came from Oakland California.
My cousin Nia and Mya stayed at my house while they were here, and my other cousins stayed at my grandfathers house some even stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown. Over the course of the family reunion we had a verbal memorabilia of our family history,a gathering at my grandfathers house and went to church together. I really enjoyed having a break from cleaning and hanging out with my family.

Two weeks after my family reunion I went to Youthquest. Over four weeks we went to Ligon Outdoors Center, Downtown Flint, Flint Cultural Center and visiting local colleges. We visited Kettering, Baker, ITT Tech, Mott community college, and U of M Flint. My favorite week was Downtown Flint week, we got to eat ice cream explore the Rowe center, and Greater Flints Arts Council. My close friends Myana and Kyrie came from out of town and got to spend that week with me also. The last day we went to Splash Village in Frakenmuth. I had a lot of fun there.

I had a six day break between then and the day I left for spend the night camp at Camp Tall Turf in Grand Rapids. I had so much fun there its hard to explain. I learned new songs and met new people. I got to play in the mud pit and make smores. I even learned to do the Berthada a type of Latin dance. I just got back from camp and my best friends birthday is tomorrow. My birthday is in fifteen days and I will be twelve!!
So far I've had a wonderful summer and i can't wait for my birthday!
