This Monday's Adventure

I went to Cafe Rhema for the first time today. The inside of the establishment was aesthetically pleasing to say the least. I found the Prohibition era jazz playing overhead to be especially pleasant as I looked for a seat. I ordered an egg sandwich with ham and cheddar on a plain bagel and a small hot chocolate to drink. The wait was not long. The prices were a bit lofty, but that is to be expected. I found the hot chocolate to be bland at first so I asked for a correction or refund. The barista happily stirred in more chocolate which was satisfactory to me. The sandwich, however was not that great. I liked the ham but the cheese was rigid in both taste and texture. The egg was oddly cooked. The bagel was so dry that it dominated the taste with its grainy presence. I give the sandwich 1 star. I lowkey want my $5 back. I give the overall experience 3.5 stars. I may go back to sit and study but I probably won't order anything.

Take Me Back

It's been 19 days away from TASS and Cornell and the separation sickness is real. I miss freedom...

This Made Me Cry

click that title there            ^

Thursday and Friday

I've been over my Tia Bonita's house since I landed in Michigan. Yesterday we didn't do much but go to McDonald's which I have now sells grits......I'll just say I didn't get any. Today we came to Grand Rapids. It was a long and crowded drive but we made it lol. We went to the Belt Line Bar for dinner and although it's a place for authentic Mexican food, I got a burger. I'm usually not "that teenager" that orders ordinary things at specialty places; I'm always open to try something. But today, I was not feeling Mexican food. I barely like Mexican at all. I only eat tacos and nachos if i do eat Mexican so I was glad they had burgers. That burger was very good. It was cooked just right, was tender, flavorful and served on a crisp Kaiser roll. The fries were unique but good as well. After that we went to Old Navy to get bathing suits. I got a cute strappy one piece for 10 bucks. I went for a dip in the hot tub when we got back, only me tho. I have to be ready for breakfast at 10 am. So deuces

The Last Minute Is The Best Minute

*sighs* It is now August 6th and I am back in Michigan. The last few days have been extremely memorable and I had a fantastic time. On Monday we had seminar and whatnot. Tuesday was the most eventful. We had seminar in the morning (the last one), a water balloon ambush and a party at Rae's house. We called it the Chez Rae Party. Chez is house in French and is pronounced "Shay".  Her house is so beautiful! She had mosaics in the floor and vintage furniture...it was breathtaking. We had a poetry reading and we presented them with our poetry books which is a compilation of the poetry we've written in seminar. Then the professors and factotum gave each other shout outs and things got teary and before we knew it, everyone was crying. They had Chipotle catered so now I've had Chipotle. There was Jamaican dancing and a cake that said "Indeed" and "Do That!" on it. Dag (my other professor) always says "Indeed" and Rae is always telling us to "Do That!" with our writing and poetry. The cake was very good. Following, we took pictures with my obnoxiously long selfie stick. We were going to walk home, but because it was raining we drove multiple cars. I was in the car with Dag. We didn't go to sleep either, we made pizzas and watched 21 Jump Street. Because it was the last day all rules were basically irrelevant. So some TASPers came over and ate cake and said goodbyes. I stayed outside with one of my TASPer friends to star gaze because Ithaca at night is very pretty. You can see the moon and the clouds and it really lights up the trees and whatnot. So we were outside and all of a sudden a skunk comes moseying around the corner. I got so scared and I froze and was like "Iza, kill it!" As if it were a bug or something he could simply squash. It came as close as 10 feet away but neither of us moved because we didn't wanna scare it. Thankfully it went away, until 10 minutes later when it made another cameo appearance from a different direction. It did not spray either time but I was definitely scared out of my mind. I fell asleep during the movie but had to wake up at 3 am to say bye to my dearest friend Sky. I cried so much I'm still dehydrated. Then people kept leaving and families kept taking people away. It was a "compounding loss" as Dag would say. Taylor took 20 mins to leave because she wouldn't get in the car. I don't even know why I put on makeup that day it was cried off by 3 o'clock. Packing and cleaning was no fun either. It cost me $35 bucks to ship my box home. I had to give the guy at USPS the evil eye because he kept questioning me about the contents of my box. He kept asking if it was just books. Of course it wasn't just books but I said yes and he asked to open it. I said "No! boy you better ship my box for book rate!" Like goodness, gracious just ship it please.

I left around 5 o'clock and it was hell to watch everyone leave. I would have rather left first. We went to the Ithaca airport which is extremely tiny and secluded. I was pretty nervous getting on, just from a lack of flyer experience but it was all good. I was with my friend Jad until I landed in Detroit. On the plane from Newark to Detroit I had a great talk with a lady named Molly. We talked about parenting, white power structures, relationships, college, and much more. It was very nice. Unfortunately, one of my bags got left in Newark so it had to be delivered today. As of now I'm reminiscing on Facebook with my 17 brothers and sisters and chilling with my cousins Kyrie and Myana.
